Call for Special Meeting of the Norton County Economic Development Board: There will be a special meeting of the Norton Economic Development Board at 12:45 p.m., on Tuesday, May 28th, at the Norton County Economic Office at 205 S State Street, Norton Kansas, for the object and purpose of reviewing and accepting bids for the Ryan Addition's city streets and sewer, and any normal and regular business and affairs of the Board.

May Business in the Spotlight: Holly's Clubhouse
Highway Work Will Resume On US 36 East of Norton
As early as May 1, construction work will begin on the driving lanes of US 36 from the east city limits of Norton to the east US 36/K383 Junction - pending weather conditions
This project began last February, with work to extend and replace the drainage structures along the right-of-way. The work continued through last summer's construction season with earthwork - creating wider and flatter shoulders along this portion of the route. MORE
American Cancer Society announces Relay For Life of Norton County
Norton County walkers will go around the clock to fight cancer during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. This celebration of life brings the numerous groups and invidicuals concerned about cancer together for a unified effot to fight back.
Teams of enthusiastic citizens will gather at the Norton Courthouse Square for an overnight Relay to join the fight against cancer from 6:00 PM on Friday, June 7th to 6:00 am on Saturday, June 8th.

Norton Public Library events week of May 21st
Beginning Bridge lessons will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 2:00 pm in the library community room. Everyone is welcome!
Preschool story time will be held Thursday, May 23, at 10:30 am. The library staff will be sharing stories, songs and other activities about "Bugs." Come join the fun! Also on Thursday, May 23, sign-up for summer reading begins. All ages, babies through adults, are encouraged to come to the library, sign up, and "Dig into Reading" this summer.
The library will be closed for memorial Day on Monday, May 27. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
Special programming for the summer will begin on Thursday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. Randy Sauer with "Randy's Music Jam" will present entertaining and interactive music for children of all ages in the library community room. His program is brought to you by the Norton Public Library, Friends of the Library, and the Hemsworth Foundation. There will not be an afternoon program at the library that day.
Fun Night activities for 7th - 12th graders also begins on Thursday, May 30, 6:30 - 8:00, with Pizza and Game night.
A new program, "Mother Goose Moments," will begin at the library on Tuesday, June 4, 10:30 - 11:00. This story time is planned for children from birth to age 2. Older siblings are welcome to join the songs, rhymes, actions, and stories geared for the little ones. Pass the word to those families with babies and toddlers.
A variety of programs and guests are scheduled throughout the summer for the "Dig into Reading" Summer Reading Program. Stop by the library for a schedule of summer events or check out the website at http://www.nortonpubliclibrary.org.
Bricks still available for Norton's Veteran Memorial
The Norton Veteran’s Memorial, located on west Highway 36 in Water Tower Park, was dedicated in May, 2012. A granite memorial stone was erected and the memorial includes paving bricks etched with veteran’s names, military branch and years of service.
