REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: 20 hours per week (this includes Sunday morning obligations).
PAY: $20/hour
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE: The Intergenerational Director, working in harmony with the Pastor and the church's lay leadership, strives to create an environment where individuals of all ages can unite in their faith. Their collective goal is to facilitate Christian maturity, guiding individuals to evolve into Disciples of Christ through the study of Scripture and adherence to Wesleyan Spiritual Disciplines. This role is integral in making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Open, affirming, and inclusive of all people.
· The ability to lead children, youth, and their families in growing relationships with God, including having a basic understanding of Scripture, willingness to pray with others, and the ability to plan and lead lessons.
· The freedom to work occasional mid-week programs and periodic larger events throughout the year.
· The ability to develop appropriate relationships with children, youth, and their families, as well as older adults.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops intergenerational programs emphasizing Discipleship, Mission, Nurture, Stewardship, Worship, and Leadership.
2. Supports volunteer youth leaders in planning youth meetings and activities, as needed.
3. Works alongside the Education, NOW and worship committees to coordinate activities that incorporate spiritual practices into daily routines and to recruit volunteers.
4. Equips children and youth to actively serve as worship leaders in different roles.
5. Attends Administrative Council meetings, develops budgets, and manages financial tracking.
6. Maintains regular communication with the Pastor, participating in weekly meetings for effective coordination and, on occasion, preforms other duties as directed by the pastor.
Professional and Personal Development:
· Practices Sabbath and spiritual disciplines.
· Attends (or takes online) appropriate continuing education annually, in consultation with and approved by the SPPRC and Pastor.
· Successfully completes the Safe Gatherings certification.
