• Administrative Assistant Records Office - Imaging Clerk

    Position #:  K0231624   Salary Range $25,688 - $34,444 annual    Position is open until filled

    Job Duty Description:  This is structured administrative support work in the Records Office. Work requires the operation of personal computers and other office equipment.  Duties are diversified and include cross training for other areas of the Records Office.   
     
    Minimum Qualifications:  Six months of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

    Performance Standards:  Screens callers and visitors; provides information or makes referrals, provides information on services and functions.  Answers routine inquiries requiring minor interpretations of policies, procedures, rules and regulations.  Maintains a record, filing, or registration system(s).  Enters and manipulates data and information by creating simple word processing templates, form letters, database tables, and spreadsheets.  Operates office equipment and personal computers.  Enters data in a high production environment.  Prepares and enters data or information from source documents, rough draft, copy or general instructions into routine and technical materials including forms, statistical reports and correspondence.  Proofreads for proper coding, classification, and compliance with procedures.

    Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of the operation of office equipment and personal computers.  Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures.  Knowledge of standard formats for letters, memos and reports.  Knowledge of record keeping, and reporting methods.  Ability to apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.  Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.  Ability to use basic word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  Ability to enter information in a variety of formats.  Ability to proofread and edit for grammar, spelling, syntax and style; compute, verify and compare figures; detect discrepancies in information or records.  Ability to record, file and transmit information.  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Ability to extract data and formulate reasonable conclusions from a variety of sources.

    Starting Salary: $25,688.00 annually ($12.35 hourly)

    Selection Process:  Applicants selected for interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior based interview questions, and possibly a performance or written test. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval.  A second interview may be conducted.  Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency.
     
    Veteran Preference Eligible (VPE):  This position is eligible for veterans’ preference.  Interested veterans must submit a DD 214 to the Department of Administration to be verified as a veteran under K.S.A. 73-201 prior to the vacancy close date.  Verified veterans who meet the selection criteria for this position will be invited for an interview.
